Tasks: subsites reporting up to main site?
Hello all. I'm working on a SharePoint site for a program management office. There are, let's say, half a dozen projects under its control, and those projects belong to different divisions within the organization. We've gone with the "Multiple PMIS created as subsites" structure Dux describes on pgs 12-13.

When someone enters a task in one of the project subsites, how can I get that task to appear automatically on the main site?

I guess the same question would hold for Calendar items, etc. And is there any way to show what subsite they came from--anything from a separate column indicating origin to even just color coding?

Thanks you,
Mike

Hi, Mike -

Great question! Your best bet would be to use a third-party product like "List Rollup Web Part" from Bamboo Solutions. Here is the link: http://go.meetdux.com/6bq
Let me know if you have other questions!

Hello,
Without any third party tool, you can use the Content Query Web Part, on the root site. Configure it so that is displays all tasks belonging to all subistes. The CQWP is available on MOSS only, and you must activate the publishing features on the root site.

Is there a solution for this for a WSS 3.0 environment?
