| PM Governance and Methodology OK, so now I know how to easily create really useful, powerful, PMIS's.
So...now, how do I create the overarching governance structure and enable it with workflows? i.e. When some bright spark has the idea for a new project how can I enable a governance structure that allows them to do the project charter etc, submit it, get it approved and then GET THE PMIS FOR THAT PROJECT TO BE AUTOMATICALLY CREATED?! Great question! This can be achieved by:
1. Building custom workflows in SharePoint Designer and maybe Visual Studio .NET (depending on the complexity of the approval process).
2. Create a custom action in the workflow (using Visual Studio .NET) to spawn of the new PMIS.
To say the least, it requires some programming. Alternatively, there are third-party products that can automate site provisioning such as SharePoint Solutions' site provisioning assistant:
